Dragonfly Mask by Marina

Dragonfly Mask by Marina

Spring is here, and it's all about nature waking up, vivid colors, flowers and dragonflies!

As most of mine designs, this one is great for "on the job." Cartoon animal designs are great way to go when we can't spend much time on detailing, and little kids even prefer them more then realistic ones.

Step 1

Load your petal sponge with favorite cake color combination, or let the kid choose their favorite. Make sure to put the darkest color on the outer sides of your Dragonfly mask.

Step 2

Creating a Dragonfly with a filbert brush is really fast and easy. You can use any two color combinations, but keep in mind that colors should work well together. I have blue in my cake (that I used for base of my mask) so that can help you decide with what color you should go with - check what is darkest color in your cake.

Step 3

Load your big filbert brush with white and then dip just the tip of it into blue. Shape of wings is basically 4 big teardrops, add eyes and highlights to our cartoon Dragonfly.

Step 4

To make our dragonfly mask symmetrical, paint some double dipped flowers with petal brush or big round. Paint teardrops to connect everything together.

Step 5 (optional)

Adding stencils to design always brings me that wow effect. Only few details and you added value to any design!
