For this instalment of, What’s on Your Board, I’ll be featuring Spider-man inspired designs. This is a must have and most requested design for me (especially for boys).
I’ll show you 3 different styles, from simple to deluxe.
Let’s get started!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Wolfe Face Paints – White
- Wolfe Face Paints – Black
- Mehron Paradise Face Paints – White
- Mehron Paradise Face Paints – Beach Berry Red
- Global Body Art Face Paint – Standard Dark Blue
- Bad Ass Mini Stencils – Dotty
- Loew-Cornell® American Painter™ Short Handle #8 Filbert Brush
- Loew-Cornell® Gold Grip #4 Round Brush
- Always Wicked Art Butterfly Sponge
How to apply:
Simple Spidey- for those times when you have no time, lol.
- Load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe White and using a teardrop motion, paint in your Spider’s web on the side of the eye.
- Load the same brush with Paradise Red and paint in an oval shape on the cheek.
- Load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe Black and paint an hour glass on top of the red oval. You will only be outlining the hour glass. Next, paint the outline of the spider body. and fill it in.
- Continue painting the spider by adding his head, fangs and legs.
- For the spider’s legs, you should be using thin to thick lines.
- Next, add Wolf Black to the spider web to create a shadow.
- Finally, load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe White and add highlights to your spider. Don’t forget three little dots connecting him to his web.
Standard Spidey Design- This is my go-to Spidey design.
- Load your Butterfly Sponge with Paradise White and stipple onto the eye.
- Load your Filbert brush with Paradise Red and begin painting your torn Spidey mask beginning in the corner of the eye.
- Using the same brush, lightly load it with Global Dark Blue and begin shading from the outside in.
- Using your petal sponge previously loaded with Paradise White and your dots stencil, stipple some dot highlights to the red portion of the mask.
- Load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe Black and outline the eye and add the webbing.
- Finally, load your #4 Round brush with Wolfe White and add highlights to the webbing and edge of the design.
Deluxe Spidey- This is the Spidey I choose when painting at birthday parties.
Load your Butterfly Sponge with Paradise White and stipple on your Spidey eyes. Next, use the same sponge still loaded with white and dab it into Global Dark Blue and stipple onto the white eyes. This will create a bit of shading on the eyes. Load your Filbert brush with Paradise Red and begin painting the mask shape as shown.
Continue painting the mask until you have your desired shape.
Load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe White and add some highlights to the red mask area.
Next, load your #4 Round Brush with Global Dark Blue and begin outline the eyes.
Continue outlining the entire mask.
From here you will add the webbing. Make a diamond shape in between the eyes. All of your webbing will come from the diamond shape.
Continue adding your webbing as shown.
Finally, load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe White and add highlights and Spidey eggs to the design to finish it off.
