How to Use the 411 Learning Center
The Main Page - Discussion
As you get to the main page of the 411 Learning Center, you'll find the discussion area where everything is posted. On this page, you'll be able to see all of the announcements such as face paint contests and giveaways, live tutorials, polls, shared face paint designs, and questions from our learning center community!
Here, you can ask questions pertaining to face painting such as, "How do I create a princess crown?" or "How much should I charge per face at festivals?" Our extended face painting community as well as our expert admins will answer your questions promptly!
Additionally, we welcome you to feel the group is a safe place where you may share your own work and ask the community for input or ideas. Our desire is to make the Learning Center an open training site where face painters may share their knowledge and help each other grow, whether it be through shared designs, favorite products, general trade tips, or business knowledge.
Units
On the left hand side, you'll see the word "Units." Units are the main topics which the Learning Center is broken down into. Each unit contains a number of posts and articles which pertain to that specific category. So for example, the first unit, UNIT 1, is called "Face Painting Basics." This unit is designed to help new face painters develop basic skills, as well as to offer seasoned face painters opportunities to practice and hone their abilities.
As you click on each sub-category of the unit, you'll be taken to that particular Facebook post. Click on it again, and you'll be taken directly to the article so you can find out more.
While UNIT 1 focuses on basics, UNIT 2 is centered on the business side of face painting. Here, you'll be able to find information and resources which will help you transform your face painting from hobby into a business.
UNIT 3 is packed full of tips and tricks for face painters. We have units covering everything from creating specific designs for topics such as superheroes, princesses, cartoons, and special effects. to blings creation, gems, and airbrushing.
Be sure to browse through the units to see what interests you. If you have difficulty finding a specific post, use the Search option, and type in a key word which will help you find the most helpful posts for questions you might have. There is lots of amazing information that we've gathered over the years to help face painters achieve their goals, and we're adding new information every week.
Also, if you have any questions about any specific article or post, be sure to leave a comment and we'll get back to you!
Announcements
On the left hand side again, right underneath Units, you'll see Announcements. Here, our page admins will announce any and all contests, giveaways, and general announcements.
For example, we just completed a 2020 New Year's Design Contest that artists were able to enter simply by sharing a face paint design in the comments. The winner will be chosen at random to win a Neon palette from Kraze FX. If you missed the New Year's contest, don't worry. Be sure to check this area often for the current contest or giveaway.
Events
Again on the left hand side, right underneath Members, you'll see an Events section. This is where our admins will post any and all events pertaining to face painting. In November of 2019, there was the 1st Online Summit for Face Painters. Check this section regularly to see what events are coming up.
Videos
If you love watching tutorials and videos in general, this section is for you. Located on the left hand side, right underneath Events, the Videos section is packed full of wonderful video tutorials from our talented face painters.
Be sure to check them all out and you'll definitely learn a new thing or two!
Files
In the Files section, which is located right underneath Photos, you'll find images and PDF files of face painting basics, such as "How to Paint Teardrops" or printable practice boards which we've added. These files can be downloaded and printed for your convenience. There is even a super helpful spreadsheet which we highly recommend to organize your face painting business.
At the end of the day, the 411 Learning Center is just, that—a learning center! It's a community of like-minded people who share a love for face painting and all that it has to offer. Artists usually join the Learning center in order to learn, to ask questions, and to better their techniques, but what we hope they will also discover here is many lifelong friends and a wonderfully encouraging community which supports them in their artistic endeavors.
