This belly painting is great to do on baby showers or for a pregnancy photo shoot. If you got a mother to be that don´t know what she wants for her belly paint, this one is perfect. If she is expecting a boy you just switch out the pink colours into baby blue, or you can pic whatever colours you like. :-) I choose to paint the balloons on this belly in blue and yellow, just like the colours of Sweden. I thought that was a nice celebrating idea. ;-)

Baby Feet Belly Paint
Step 1: Sketch
Start by making a sketch with a #3 round brush and a beige colour. Make sure that the mother to be is standing up when you do this, the belly will change form when she is sitting down. I put the baby feet on each side of the belly button. Make a big circle where the background will end, and the lines where the pennants will be. I also made some X where I will put my roses, so there is a little bit of symmetry. Take your time when you do the feet. This is the focus of the design, and you want it to look good.
Step 2: Background
Use a sponge, a shimmering white and a shimmering pink (or whatever colour you want) to make the background. I used the shimmering white on the outside, then shimmering pink on most of the background, and to make the feet really pop I used the shimmering white and a finger sponge to paint around the feet. I also used a big filbert brush to paint around the design with the shimmering white so I got a nice finish. Put on some iridescent glitter over the whole background.
Step 3: Baby feet and Roses
Fill in the baby feet with a magenta coloured paint. I did some shadows and highlights on the feet and toes as well with a blending brush the baby pink colour. For the one stroke roses I wanted to use different colours, you can use only one if you want but I like them all and wanted to do a colourful baby bump. :-) I used a 3/4" angle brush for the big roses in pink and purple, and a 5/8" angle brush for the peach coloured ones. I made 4 small rosebuds as well, two on each side, to make the roses direction more round like the belly. Don´t forget to put on some more glitter! We want the belly to really sparkle!
Step 4: Leafs
To make the leafs you need a green one stroke colour and a 1/2" angle brush. I will do the opposite to when I make my roses, I put the darkest colour on the outside for leafs, and not the brightest as when I do the roses. Make some nice thin lines on the sides along with the small rosebuds.
Step 5: Celebration details
Finish the roses by using a #1 round brush and the darkest part of the green one stroke to fill int the details on the leafs. Use a waxy white and a #2 round brush to make some dots and stars. For the balloons I used a filbert brush because it got a nicely round shape. Use what ever colours you want, I choose blue and yellow because it is the colours of Sweden where I am from. Make the balloons in different sizes and put on some highlights with the waxy white. For the pennants I used magenta and a darker deep magenta.
Step 6: Outline, details and confetti
Use a #3 round brush and a waxy black to outline the feet, pennants and balloons. Finish the details with the balloons and put some white stars on each one right where the highlight is. Put on some white highlights on the feet and on the pennants. This mommy already know what the baby´s name will be (Nellie) so I wrote it along with the year she will be born (2019) on the pennants. Finish off with some confetti using a #1 round brush and several colours of your choice. I used yellow, blue, magenta and white.
I really hope you like this design! I am sure that if you try it the mother to be will love it! Happy painting!
