The calavera, or skull in Spanish, is a powerful symbol from Mexico. It celebrates those that have departed us, and it's a popular holiday known as Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Let's add our own flow to this beautiful and flowery glow in the dark calavera face paint design!
Calavera Face Paint Design Tutorial
Step 1
Paint a rough skull shape with a white face paint using a 3/4 inch brush or sponge. For this particular design, I worked with UV paints.
Step 2
I chose butterfly shape eyes, so I filled them in with black face paint. Paint the lips with pink face paint.
Step 3
Paint black lines for the teeth, the space in between the skull and the chin. With a flat brush paint pink one stroke flowers and green leaves going across the face. Outline the shape of the skull with yellow. I used liquid paintand it works perfectly for lining.
Step 4:
With a liner brush outline flowers. Use yellow face paint on the lighter edges, and black face paint for inside of the flowers and leaves.
Step 5:
With a liner brush, add a flow to your calavera and neck with white, yellow and black liquid paint. And there you have it! A Beautiful, glow in the dark calavera face paint design!
