Big Nose Buddies Jungle Series: Rainbow Tiger Tutorial

This week the Swirly Girlies, a collaboration group that I'm a member of, decided to do a not-your-average rainbow tiger challenge, so I incorporated it into the Big Nose Buddies jungle series. The great thing about this design is that it blends two very popular requests by children—tigers and rainbows.

Materials

Kryvaline Summer Sunset split cake
Lime green face paint (TAG)
Medium green face paint (TAG)
Red, orange, and yellow small split cake (TAG)
Black face paint (Diamond FX)
White face paint (Wolfe)
Sponge
1/2-inch flat brush
#2 round brush
#5 round brush or small filbert

Tutorial

For this design, I used white to create my basic shape first so I would know where to put my rainbow behind the tiger. Load a sponge and create a rainbow behind the tiger head.

Load the flat brush from the red, orange, and yellow small split and make six curved shapes around the big nose as shown below.

Fill in the nose shape with black, and load the flat brush with lime and medium green to create the spiky grass by pulling away at angles from the sides of the tiger.

Use your #2 round brush and black to add outlines to the tiger and grass, as well as adding details such as the eyes and the tiger stripes.

Use white to add highlights, dots, and starbursts with your #2 round brush. The highlights are important, because they bring the tiger to life.

And don't forget the tiny tiger teeth!
