When I don’t know what to paint, I paint aliens, because they can be anything that I want them to be (and come in brilliant fashion colors). I hope you have a great time painting this goofy alien which features one of my favorite small split cakes, Global’s London.

Materials

• Global small split London
• TAG light green
• TAG medium green
• Diamond FX or Wolfe white
• Diamond FX or Wolfe black
• TAG orange
• TAG yellow
• 1-inch flat brush
• #5 round brush
• #2 round brush
• Sponge
• BAM stencil
• Green cosmetic grade glitter

Tutorial

Begin by making two circles for the alien eyes with white and your #5 round brush, placing one above and one under the eye.

Load your 1/2-inch flat brush from a TAG light green and medium green split cake. Keep the dark green on the outside of what will be the alien appendage that has the eye on it.

Flip the 1/2-inch brush so the medium green is on the outside and follow the shape to finish the appendage. Repeat for the other eye.

Load your 1-inch flat brush from the Global London split cake and begin to swish it back and forth to create the “furry” outer edge of the alien, ending along the edge of the bottom lip.

Repeat this step to create the top edge of the alien, ending along the edge of the top lip.

Sponge TAG light green on the center of the alien to blend. Load your sponge or dauber (a dauber might be easier, since it’s more narrow) with TAG yellow and add a texture to the appendage which holds the eyes.

Load your #2 round brush with black and create the inside of the eyes and begin to outline your alien. Add orange lips to the alien, using either a #5 round brush or a small filbert.

Complete the black outline for the alien, including the lips.

Add colorful dots and starbursts around the alien.

Add white highlights with your #2 round brush and enjoy your finished alien design, which has a mouth that will smile and talk when you do.
